Construction
The Dealer 4 is constructed
to provide long and reliable operation. Using stainless steel as the
main chassis material provides robust and good looking construction.
Direct drive Brushless DC and Stepper motors, ball bearings and no belts
or gears provide long life and low maintenance operation. The powerful
200MHz DSP processor provides fast and accurate functionality. Full
control of card movement eliminates any possibility of error during
dealing*, providing highly reliable operation**.
**errors during dealing are
possible; read errors, feed card and gate errors can happen. They depend
mainly on the condition of the cards. The acceptable error ratio for
cards in good condition is 1 error for 100 dealt boards. These errors
are reported and the machine operator can take appropriate action. Probability
of the undetected error which can lead to an incorrectly dealt board
is zero.
**regular maintenance of the
machine is required. Refer to the maintenance section of the User Manual.
Optical Card Recognition
One of the main features of
Dealer4 is the Optical Card Recognition System(OCRS). Dealer4 does not
require bar-coded or any another specially marked cards, which can be
expensive. Any standard sized cards can be used. The OCRS uses a video
camera and a DSP processor to analyze the image of a card, recognize
the number and the suit, thereby directing it to the necessary gate**.
**current version of the Dealer4
software recognizes only English cards. Support for other countries
will be added in later software updates.
Card Boxes
Dealer 4 is primary designed
to be used with a special slide-in plastic Card Box. Using Card Boxes
is recommended and is the simplest and fastest way to prepare the many
boards required for everyday club activities. If a club has an older
type soft wallet or another type of incompatible card box, Dealer 4
is still the answer. Because of the unique design of Dealer 4, a special
Acrylic Insert can be used in place of a Card box. The Acrylic Insert
is provided with the Dealer 4. Card Boxes are available to purchase
separately**.
**not using Card Boxes requires
cards to be manually removed from the machine and placed into wallets.
This increases dealing time and probability of operator mistakes.
Software:
Dealer4 comes with Windows
2K/Windows XP/ Windows Vista compatible software. The software controls
the machine and allows board information generation, storing and printing.
The Dealer4 software can also read various file formats providing easy
interface to third party Bridge Dealing/Analyzing software like DealMaster
Pro or Deep Finesse.
**operation under Windows Vista
is not tested yet.
**Windows 98SE version will
be available in the near future.
